Day 42 4/5/06 - Italy

Milan

Highlight

• Visiting San Siro and the look on Slokky's face and the mad football playing kids who went on the tour with us.
• Taking 2 hours from San Siro to our new hotel, which, btw, is in the middle of nowhere. Luckily we didn't miss out on the tix to see...
• Watching Manon at the Theatro Alla Scala, even though we were sitting in the very top gallery and not able to see a thing. We did the lining up for 2 hours and getting tickets for 12 Euros thing.
• Out of all the duomos I've been, the one in Milan is the most beautiful, even though it was under renovations, like just about everything else we saw. The white marble and the gothic peaks make it very surreal. For once, there was actually explanation plagues available.
• Galleria Vittorio Emanuele is the world's most exclusive shopping mall. It was nice to window-shop and watch all the people who can actually afford to shop there come and go.
• We planned to go see The Last Supper, but we could never ring through to book our tix, so we thought we'll try our luck by going to Santa Maria della Grazie. However, when we got there, we finally found out that all the tix are booked out until June. Oh well, looks like we'll have to come back to Milan.
• The bitchy lady at Santa Maria della Grazie won't let me look at any of the books in the bookshop. What did she think I was going to do? Memorise the information then publish it?
• The Castello Sforzesco in Milan is very big, open to tourist and informative, with a beautiful park.
• Learning all about Leonardo da Vinci while window shopping on Via Del Corso.
