Day 3 26/4/11 - Italy

Acquidolce -> Gallodoro -> Mazzaro -> Taormina -> Mazzaro -> Acquidolce Palermo

Highlight

• Finally the water got fixed
• Asked for compensation – we are getting home cook for Friday, so that should be fun.
• Took ages before we got to lunch as we had to do all the stuff we couldn’t without water, so we didn’t leave until 11am, then we took the wrong road and wasted ½ hour.
• The restaurant we wanted to go to for lunch, Noemi, wasn’t opened, so we ate at another random place again. This one was not very good at all and it was expensive.
• It started to rain very heavily, so we couldn’t see the view from the cable car at Mazzaro
• The rain spoilt the view of Etna from Taormina as well, the town was still very pretty.
• We meandered around, looking into the shops, ate various gelato, cannoli, anarchini, looked at churches, views of charming old building
• Paid €8 to see the Roman Theatre, but couldn’t see the view because of rain again, so it wasn’t really worth it.
• Dinner at Acquidolce – very unpretentious restaurant, but the seafood was excellent.
• Home for sweets and tea

Food

• salami, tomato, mozzarella on bread
• Ristorante Pizzeria Anna:
  • filled pasta with tomato sauce
• gelato brioche with hazelnut and tiramisu
• aranchini
• cannoli
• brioche with pineapple and blood orange sorbet
• Trattoria Gambera:
  • mixed seafood antipasto – prawns in seafood sauce, marinated calamari
  • grilled fish (2!) of the day with lemon
  • 2 types of grilled prawns
• Sicilian sweets – almond, orange, pistachio, lemon pastries
